Andrea Kierstead advanced to today's finals in the 100-meter hurdles to highlight the Carson High boys and girls track teams' effort at the Stanford Invitational on Friday.
Kierstead had an outstanding time of 16.27 seconds to make today's finals. Also for Carson, Kayla Sanchez ran the 100 in 12.96 while Christa Dixon finished in 13.73.
In a ring that had about an inch of water, Eric Walther had a throw of 48 feet, two inches in the boys shot put while Alex McAlman was unable to make a qualifying throw in the girls shot put.
The girls medley relay finished in 13:22. Christy Works had an outstanding time of 1:01 in her 400 leg, Gloria Sosa ran 2:35 in the 800, Annie Brinson ran 4:03 in the 1,200 and Allie Collier ran a personal best 5:41 in the 1,600.
The meet concludes today. Kierstead will also compete with Sanchez and Jeremy Gray in the 400 hurdles and Gray will run in the boys 400 as well. Walther and McAlman will both compete in the discus.
In addition, Works, Sosa, Brinson and Collier will run in the 4 x 800 relay and Carson will run in the 4 x 400 relay as well.
"They did well for the conditions," said Carson coach Todd Ackerman about the meet, which was contested in a steady rain. "I'm happy with what they ran."
