Dayton shooting victim dies

A Dayton woman died this morning as a result of multiple gunshot wounds following a dispute last night with her estranged husband, who remains on the loose.

Heather Deyerle, 24, was pronounced dead at Washoe Medical Center.

Christopher Lawrence Deyerle, 25, is being sought by investigators as a suspect in the killing, and is considered to be armed and dangerous.

According to Lt. John Arndell with the Lyon County Sheriff's Department, the couple was in front of the victim's parents' home on Boulder Circle, near Dayton High School, possible discussing a divorce when the shooting occurred around 10 p.m.

Heather Deyerle's father heard shots, ran outside, saw his daughter wounded and chased Christopher Deyerle, but was unable to catch him.

Christopher Deyerle is described as being 5-feet, 8 tall and 195 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen leaving the area on foot wearing a plaid shirt and blue jeans, carrying a 9 mm handgun. He is considered armed and dangerous.
