A four-run first inning proved to be merely an appetizer for a huge second inning, as Fresno State moved out to a 17-2 lead after two innings on the way to their second win over Nevada, 19-3.

Beau Mills had a single and grand slam in the inning for six RBI, and Christian Vitters hit two doubles as the Bulldogs scored 13 runs in the inning, which broke their old mark of 12.

Dayton's Matt Bowman had his hitting streak stopped at 12 as he went 0-for-4 for Nevada (17-25, 5-11 in the Western Athletic Conference).

Nevada closed to within 4-2 in the second when Jordan Opdyke singled and Durrell Williams followed with his first home run of the year. After Fresno State made it 19-2, Shawn Scobee hit his 15th homer of the year to finish the scoring.

After the Bulldogs (32-16, 11-6) scored 13 runs in the second, winning pitcher Eddie Romero struck out the side in the third.

Mills finished with seven RBI while Scobee led Nevada with two hits.

The two teams conclude their three-game series today as Andy Underwood takes the mound against Ryan Rodriguez. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
