Rotary Club members of the Lake Tahoe area, Sierra foothills and Northern Nevada are seeking four individuals to visit Thailand as part of the Group Study Exchange program of the Rotary Foundation International. Teams of young professionals from two different countries exchange visits. For four to six weeks, team members experience the customs and vocational practices of another country while sharing information on their homeland. The Rotary Foundation pays for airfare, and Rotary club members in the host country provide meals, lodging and group travel in their district. Team members pay for personal and incidental expenses. Adults aged 25 through 40 who are employed full-time in a business or profession are eligible. Applications are due July 1.

Arbor Day Foundation offers free pruning guide

Carson Sertoma Club holds charity golf tourney
The Carson Sertoma Club will hold its annual charity golf tournament with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on June 3 at Eagle Valley East Course. Cost is $100 per player and includes cart, barbecue, and tee prizes.
There will be prizes for the longest drive, a 50-50 closest to the hole, and a putting and hole-in-one contest.
All proceeds go to the local speech and hearing impaired children. Hole sponsorship is also available for $100 dollars. Lunch is $12 for those not participating in the golf tournament.

NDOW to host two free fly fishing classes
The Nevada Department of Wildlife is sponsoring two free fly-fishing classes. The first will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Minden Park, and is geared for entry-level anglers. Casting techniques and general fly-fishing will be demonstrated.
The second class will take place from 6-8 p.m. May 18 at the Verdi Community Library, 270 Bridge St., in Verdi, and is geared toward entry-level anglers. Basic casting and fly-tying techniques will be demonstrated.
