Mammovan coming to the area

Thanks to a generous grant from the Northern Nevada Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation, free mammograms will be available for women of any age who are uninsured or under-insured throughout this month, June and July. The Mammovan will be at the following times, dates, and locations:


7:45 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. today, FISH, 138 E. Long St., Carson City.


9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Washoe Tribal Health Clinic, 1559 Watasheamu Road., Gardnerville.


7:45 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. July 17, Silver Springs Senior Center, 1050 Pyramid St., Silver Springs.


7:45 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. July 21, FISH, 138 E. Long St., Carson City.


7:45 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. July 26-27, Incline Village/Children's Cabinet, 865 Tahoe Blvd., Incline Village.


7:45 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. July 28, St. Paul's Lutheran Family Comm., 1201 N. Saliman Rd., Carson City.

Senior Center plans dinner and show bus trip


A Dinner and Show bus trip to the El Dorado Hotel-Casino to see "Balagan" is planned for Wednesday. The bus will leave from the Douglas Count Senior Center at 3 p.m. and return around 10:15 p.m. Cost is $32 per person and includes the show, buffet dinner and gratuity. High Desert Horsemen to hold 'De-Spooking Clinic'


The High Desert Horsemen will hold a "De-Spooking Clinic 101" conducted by Vince Pirozzi at 9 a.m. Sunday at 11225 Silver Lane in Stagecoach. Cost is $10 for members and $25 for nonmembers. Lunch is included.

Boomtown hosting concealed-weapon courses


Boomtown Hotel and Casino in Reno will be this year's location for the Nevada Concealed-Weapon certification courses. These courses offer safety tips and certifications, valid in nearly 30 states. This month's classes will be Saturday and Sunday. Additional classes will be June 24-25 and July 22-23. Upon completion, students are prepared to apply for a concealed-weapons permit through Washoe County.


Courses include a two-night Boomtown stay Friday and Saturday, two days of four-hour instruction and license application paperwork, for $199 plus tax. Courses alone are just $149.


For an additional $75, a Utah mail-in certification is available, giving non-Utah residents the right to carry concealed weapons in nearly 30 states. You must be 21 years or older to take this class.
