Chelsee Tuni, a member of the Western Nevada Community College rodeo team, placed first in average in a rodeo last weekend at Fresno State.
Tuni received $230.40 in prize money for her efforts in the rodeo that had more than 50 participants.
"I was halfway screaming through the whole thing," Tuni said. "I was so excited."
Tuni had a great overall performance finishing first in the barrel racing average, second in the barrel racing short go, and third in the barrel racing long go.
With Tuni's performance, the WNCC rodeo team moved up from ninth to seventh in the West Coast Region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association's women's teams. Tuni also advanced from 14th to sixth in the women's barrel racing standings. Next stop for Tuni and the rodeo team is today and Saturday at UNLV.
