No charges are expected to be filed in the accidental self-inflicted shooting Saturday of a 55-year-old northern Storey County man.

Sheriff's Sgt. Chris Parson said Christopher Christensen allegedly shot himself in the chest Saturday evening at his home while attempting to unload with his .40-caliber Smith and Wesson handgun.

The bullet entered the left side of his chest below the pectoral muscle near the armpit and exited through his back, according to Parsons.

Christensen cleaned himself up and went to St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Reno at 6:15 p.m. Saturday, where he was treated and released.

The Storey County Sheriff's Department has ruled the shooting as accidental.
