Fliegler wins world title

Carson City's Janice Fliegler can now call herself a world champion.

Fliegler won the women's 35-39 age division at the Nissan Xterra World Championships held over the weekend in Maui. Fliegler, a mother of five children - all ages 6 and under - covered the course in 3 hours, 53 minutes, 46 seconds. She finished more than 11 minutes ahead of her nearest competitor.

The course consisted of 1,500-meter swin, a 30-kilometer mountain bike ride and a 10K run.
