Carson City


Call Monday for yard debris pick up


The Carson City Street Operations Division will be out to pick up garden and yard debris beginning Nov. 13.


Call Carson City Public Works at 887-2355 starting at 8 a.m. Monday through noon Nov. 17 to schedule a pick up. Crews will work their way through the city beginning at 7:30 a.m. Nov. 13 through Nov. 17.


Residents are asked to place the material they wish to have picked up near the curb in plain view.


Nov. 17 is the final day of pick up this year.


Leaves must be bagged and limbs must be less than six feet long tied in bundles and no larger then 4 inches in diameter.


Material to be picked up is limited to vegetation only - leaves, limbs, prunings, etc. Crews cannot accept items such as household garbage, old appliances, furniture or lumber.




Carson Tahoe Auxiliary to hold gift shop sale


The Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare Auxiliary Gift Shop will be holding a Harvest Clearance Sale through Nov. 13. All merchandise will be 30 percent off with the exception of See's Candy, Ty products and greeting cards.


All proceeds benefit the Auxiliary. Call 445-5142.




Learn about Chinese steam locomotives on


Bill Kohler will present "Hunting the Chinese Iron Dragons," a program about steam locomotives in China, at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, 2180 S. Carson St. Call 687-6953.




Natives and Newcomers to meet on Thursday


Natives and Newcomers will be holding its monthly luncheon meeting at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the upstairs area of the Carson Nugget.


Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m.; luncheon buffet begins at noon. Prospective members are encouraged to attend. To RSVP, call 885-9019 or 883-1087 before Tuesday.




'Ten Financial Commandments' to continue today


Part two of the video series "Ten Financial Commandments" will show at 7 p.m. today at the Potter's House Christian Church on Winnie Lane.

Trinkle Brass Works to play for Douglas library


The Douglas County Public Library will be hosting a musical program featuring Trinkle Brass Works at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the CVIC Hall, 1602 Esmeralda Ave. in Minden. Call 782-9841.




Douglas County library to hold bedtime stories


The Douglas County Public Library will be holding Bedtime Stories at 6:45 p.m. Monday at the Minden branch, located at 1625 Library Lane.


Children are encouraged to come dressed in pajamas and bring a favorite blanket or stuffed animal and hear American Indian stories. Call 782-9841.




Photographers starting Carson Valley area club
