A private memorial service for close friends and family of Phyllis "Grandma Foo" Ashurst, 73, a 55-year Gardnerville resident, will be 1-5 p.m. Nov. 11.
Mrs. Ashurst died Oct. 21, 2006, in Gardnerville. She was born Aug. 12, 1933, in Gardnerville, to William and Alvina Wilslef.
She married Donald Ashurst on May 12, 1951, in Reno.
She was a graduate of Douglas High School.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and doing crafts.
She was preceded in death by her husband on July 2, 2006.
Among her survivors are daughter Marilyn McKenzie of Woodfords; sons Steve Ashurst of Coleville, Calif., and Gary Ashurst of Topaz Ranch Estates; sisters Edna Hellwinkel, Ardelle Ford and Yvonne Thran; and six grandchildren.
Cremation will take place at Walton's Sierra Crematory in Carson City.
Walton's Douglas County Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
