FISH needs turkeys
Friends In Service Helping is in need of 150 turkeys to fill baskets for needy families this Thanksgiving. Distribution takes place Nov. 20-22. Turkey donors should bring a frozen turkey to FISH, 138 E. Long St. FISH is open for registration in its Christmas office 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday until Christmas Day. Approximately 300 families will be served at Thanksgiving, and 500 at Christmas. Call FISH at 882-8448.
Elk's Lodge to hold Veterans dinner
The Carson City Elk's Lodge, 515 N. Nevada St., will be holding a Veteran's dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday at the lodge. Cost is $6, but veterans with cards get in free. There will be spaghetti and meatballs, Caesar salad, cheesy garlic bread and dessert. Proceeds will be presented to the Carson City Senior Center's Adopt a Senior Veteran in the Meals on Wheels program to help homebound veterans. Call 882-2177.

Wildcats hold Texas Hold-em tournament
Card players are invited to play in a no-limit Texas Hold-em Poker Tournament from 7- 11 p.m. tonight at the Peppermill Hotel-Casino's Tahoe Ballroom. The entry fee is $200, and all proceeds benefit the Western Nevada Community College Wildcats baseball team, which opens it's 2007 season in January. Cocktail party features free beer at 6 p.m. Prizes include a one-year membership at the Red Hawk Golf Course. Players receive $1,000 in chips if they have not already registered.
