A Rosary will be said for Ramon M. Nevares, 85, a 21-year Dayton resident, at 7 p.m. Sunday at Oak Hill Mortuary in San Jose, Calif. A funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in San Jose.
Mr. Nevares died Nov. 6, 2006, in Dayton. He was born Jan. 22, 1921, in Otis, N.M., to Jose and Bernabe Nevares.
He enjoyed fishing, camping and boating.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martina Nevares, in 2001; by daughter Carolina Nevares in 2002; by sisters Lupe Romero in 2003 and Manuela Rivas in 1988; and by brother Blas Diaz in 1994.
Among his survivors are his son and daughter-in-law Ray Jr. and Marcy Nevares of Los Banos, Calif.; son John Joe Nevares of Midland, Texas; daughter and son-in-law Rufina and Pablo Sanchez of Midland, Texas; daughter Emma Lopez of Dayton; brother Jesus Nevares of El Paso, Texas and 16 grandchildren.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
