A memorial service for Virginia Ebe Rupert, 87, an 80-year Carson City resident, will be 1 p.m. Sunday at the Carson Indian Colony gym, 2900 S. Curry St. A viewing will be 5-8 p.m. Friday at FitzHenry's Funeral Home. Burial will take place at the Stewart Indian Cemetery following the service, followed by a potluck dinner at the Carson Indian Colony Gym.
Mrs. Rupert died Nov. 9, 2006, at her home. She was born May 18, 1919, in Owyhee, to Harry Ebe and Emma Quinn Ebe.
She was a graduate of the Stewart Indian School in Carson City, with honors in seamstress and culinary arts.
She married John Rupert on June 1, 1946.
She worked at the Carson City Orphan's Home as the caregiver during World War II, and after the war as a janitor's helper at the Stewart Indian School, a heavy equipment mechanic helper for the Nevada Division of Transportation and an administrator for Rupert's Auto Body.
She was a quilter for NUMA, an elder of the Duck Valley Paiute Tribe, an honored elder of the Washoe Tribe and a member of the Stewart Baptist Church.
She enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing for friends, family and co-workers.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Among her survivors are a son, Leroy Rupert; grandsons Ben, Tobin and Ted Rupert; and two great-grandchildren, all of Carson City.
FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
