BLM starts selling tree permits


The Bureau of Land Management will be selling Christmas tree-cutting permits through Dec. 22. Permits are available for $10 each in designated cutting areas.


There is a limit of two trees per household. Permits may be purchased in person from the Carson Ranger District Office.

Retired federal employees meet


NARFE Chapter No. 1329 will meet Tuesday at Grandma Hattie's, 2811 S. Carson St. The optional luncheon is at 11:15 a.m. business meeting is at 12:30 p.m.


A representative from Blue/Blue Shield will provide information on the health benefits available for the current open season. All current and retired federal employees are invited.Nominations for 2007 chapter officers will be announced.

'Life and Adventures of Santa Claus' to show at the BAC


Carson Performing Arts will present "The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus," based on the book by L. Frank Baum, as its annual fundraiser for the Brewery Arts Center, at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 1 and 8, and at 2 p.m. Dec. 2, 3, 9 and 10.


Cost is $5 for children and students with student body cards, $7 for students, seniors, and Brewery Arts Center members, $8 general admission, and $25 for a family of four.

RR Museum to give trade rides for toys


The Nevada State Railroad Museum will be giving free historic steam train rides to anyone who brings an unwrapped toy donation for the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday and Saturday.


The museum will also remain an official drop-off site for the program though Dec. 17.

Roberts House to hold tea Dec. 3


There will be a tea to benefit the Roberts House Museum at noon Dec. 3 for $18.


Space is limited, and early registration is requested by four days prior to the tea.
