Four members of the Palo Verde High varsity football team were arrested Wednesday for their role in two arson fires at Faith Lutheran High in August.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal first reported the story on Thursday. Palo Verde will play at noon today at Galena in the NIAA 4A State semifinals.

A total of five Palo Verde students were arrested for their roles in the incident. The four players arrested will be barred from playing in today's game.

Two key players for Palo Verde were not present at Wednesday's practice - starting quarterback J.D. Buonantony and running back Rashan Lawrence, the team's leading rusher. Palo Verde coach Darwin Rost wouldn't comment on why the two players weren't at practice.

It's been reported that all four of the suspended players were used primarily on offense. None of Palo Verde's defensiver starters were involved in the incident.
