Peter Makua'ole

A memorial service for Peter Makua'ole, 68, a Nevada resident since 1997, will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dayton Ward, 304 Driftwood Way, with Bishop Dennis Wheeler officiating. A viewing will be one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Makua'ole died Nov. 22, 2006, at his home. He was born Sept. 6, 1938, in Waimea, Kauai, Hawaii, to Kekua Makua'ole and Eva Adolpho Makua'ole.

He married Rosalie Fischer on April 30, 1966, in Santa Monica, Calif.

He moved to Dayton in 2001. Prior to that, he lived in Gardnerville from 1997-2001 and in California.

He graduated from high school in Honolulu.

He worked for Hawaiian Dredging and for the Outrigger Canoe Club, before beginning a career in construction for various companies as project manager.

He retired in 1997. In his retirement, he worked part time at the Dayton Valley Golf Club.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Outrigger Canoe Club in Waikiki. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, cooking, horseback riding and his luaus at the Dayton Valley Golf Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers and sisters.

Among his survivors are his wife of Dayton; daughters and sons-in-law Laura Kanani and Paul Pulleyn of Reno and Noelle Ku'ulei and Rick Hart of Gardnerville; son, Kahana Makua'ole of Kamuela, Hawaii; brothers George and Albert Makua'ole, both of Waianae, Hawaii, and Kealoha Makua'ole of Kailua, O'ahu, Hawaii; sisters Grace Acain of Kekaha, Hawaii, and Hannah Sapir of Waianae; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
