Canned food and coat drive

Central Lyon Youth Connections and Greater Nevada Credit Union are partnering for a canned foods and winter coat drive. Food items and coats may be dropped of at 170 Pike St. in Dayton through today. Call 246-0320.

Toys for Tots

Drop off new, unwrapped toys in any of the Toys for Tots barrels at businesses around town. Barrels are also at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, 2180 S. Carson St.; United Blood Services, 256 E. Winnie Lane; and the Carson City Library, 900 Roop St.

Girl Scout Mitten Tree

Carson City Girl Scout Troop 464 has set up its mitten tree at the Carson City Library, 900 N. Roop St. The scouts are collecting new mittens, hats and gloves through Saturday. The items will be donated to needy students throughout the Carson City School District.

Christmas bags for convalescent homes

Donate non-skid socks, lap blankets, hand cream, candy canes, apples or oranges to the New Destiny Praise Chapel. The bags will be delivered along with Christmas carols to convalescent homes in Carson City. Call 885-1825 or 450-2489 to donate.

Homebound Senior gifts

Generic gifts such as disposable razors, nonperishable food items, scented candles, small bottles of perfume, postage stamps or small-denomination gift cards. Deliver to Carson City Senior Citizens Center, 911 Beverly Drive; or call 883-0703.

Angel Trees

The Salvation Army has Angel Trees with the 'wish list' of needy children in several area businesses. To host a tree, or to adopt-a-family, call The Salvation Army at 887-9120 between 9 a.m. to noon, 1-3 p.m. Monday-Friday.
