Carson City


Downtown merchants join in drawing


Participating downtown merchants have begun issuing drawing tickets for a prize from each of their stores. Tickets will be issued until Dec. 15, when each merchant will draw their store winner. All of the tickets will then be combined for the grand prize drawing at 5 p.m. Dec. 16. Participants do not need to be present to win.




Holiday wine walk downtown Saturday


Wine aficionados can purchase a commemorative wine glass and map for $10 and enjoy wine tasting, art galleries, gift shops, casinos and restaurants in downtown Carson City from 1-5 p.m. Saturday. There is plenty of free parking. Maps turned in at the Carson Nugget by 5 p.m. will be eligible for several raffle drawings. Those interested can sign up Saturday at any of the downtown merchants displaying balloons. Call Joe Eiben at 882-6547.




Panithias Grill to donate 10 percent to 'club of the week'


Every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. the Panithias Grill, 2000 N. Carson St., invites the public to come in for lunch, dinner, or just a soda, and mention "the fundraiser." The grill will then donate 10 percent of your bill to the Carson High School "Club of the Week." There is a different club every week which benefits from this fundraiser.


Virginia City


danceSpirit studio to present Yule ballet


The danceSpirit studio will present a Christmas ballet, "Ebenezer Scrooge - Jazz'd Up Like the Dickens" at 1 p.m. Saturday at Piper's Opera House in Virginia City. The show will be repeated at 7 p.m. Dec. 16 and 17 at 1 p.m. in the Carson City Community Center.


A cast of 44 dancers and actors take part in the show. Tickets are $17 for adults and $10 for ages 8 and under and seniors. Call 884-1066 for tickets. All seats are reserved.


For the last six years danceSpirit has presented "The Nutcracker Ballet - All Jazz'd Up." This year Director Sandi Scheer came up with the new program, a more compassionate show about Christmas. This is an adaptation of Charles Dickens' "The Christmas Carol."




Douglas County


Reception set for holiday miniature show


The Genoa Art Gallery will be hosting its Holiday Miniature Show starting Friday through Christmas. A Champagne reception will take place from 5-8 p.m. Friday. Artists will be on hand to personally show their miniature pieces. Call 782-0568 or visit www.TheDavisGalleryGenoa.com.




Spaghetti feed and bingo to be held Friday in Minden


The Minden/Douglas Elks Lodge and the town of Minden will be holding a spaghetti feed and Christmas tree bingo at 5 p.m. Friday at the CVIC Hall on Esmeralda St. in Minden.


Dinner is $6 per person, or $4 for those 10 and under.


Bingo is 25 cents per game and will follow the holiday lights ceremony at the Minden Park area at 6:30 p.m.




Light the lights with the Douglas County Public Library


The Douglas County Public Library will be holding its Light the Lights celebration from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Minden Library, and continuing at 4-7:30 p.m. Saturday at the parade.


Participants can write letters to Santa or to soldiers.


Lists and letters may b e brought to the Minden Inn, 1594 Esmeralda Ave., on Saturday.


Letter writers will receive a glow bracelet.

Reno


Reno holds indoor farmers markets through December


The indoor farmers market continues from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. every Saturday through December at Shoppers Square, on the corner of Virginia Street and Plumb Lane in Reno.


There will be fresh produce, grass-fed beef, honey, pickles, jams and jellies, goat cheese, nuts, baked goods, dried flowers and packaged foods.
