No one was injured in a rollover accident at Roop and William streets just after 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Patrick Dove, 42, of Gardnerville, said he was driving east on William Street heading for a haircut when a white Subaru Outback cut in front of him to make a southbound turn onto Roop Street.

He said tried to hit his brakes, but it was too late, and Dove's Ford Ranger struck the Outback on the passenger side. The impact, which he described as a "punch," flipped the Subaru.

"I saw the whole thing," a frazzled Dove said.

Subaru driver Betty Divine, 80, was trapped in her seat belt when Dove and others got to her side. Dove said he cut her seat belt to give her room to breathe and they waited for paramedics to arrive. Divine was looked at by the ambulance crew and released to her family.

Dove was dismayed to learn Divine would get a ticket for failing to yield the right-of-way.

"I just want to go give her a hug," he said, noting the only casualties in the accident were his chow mein lunch and the Ranger, which he bought new 15 years ago.

Trooper Nick Nordyke said Dove was going between 25 and 30 mph when the accident happened.

"The hit was just perfect enough to cause the vehicle the overturn," Nordyke said.

Eastbound traffic between Stewart and Roop streets was stopped for about 90 minutes until the intersection was cleared.
