The Carson High boys tennis team came about as close as anyone has come to breaking the Reno High-Galena dominance of the Northern 4A.

But it was not to be as the Senators lost at Galena 11-7 on Friday in the Northern 4A semifinals. The match was rescheduled for Friday after being postponed from Thursday due to weather.

"The kids played well," Carson coach Pat Houlihan said. "I thought Galena was a better team. There were some wonderfun points that were played, some good sets."

Carson was able to win five of nine doubles matches, but Galena won seven of nine singles matches. Bryt Lewis and Brad Cobler and Nick Smallman and Chris Wear won two of three matches while James Pelz and Jordan Rogers won once for Carson.

In singles, Chris Schwartz won both of his matches, Collin Davis swept his three matches and John Baldwin won once for Galena. The Grizzlies' Shane Leeder also beat Jeff Van Epps 7-5 in a well played match. Spencer Brinson and Van Epps were able to each win once for Carson.
