The Western Nevada Community College women's soccer team ran into a far different Feather River College club than the one it faced to begin the season.
WNCC lost to Feather River 4-1 in Quincy, Calif., on Wednesday. The Wildcats opened the year with a 5-1 win over the Golden Eagles.
But since then Feather River has added several players, including players from Brazil and Sweden, and has become a team that's contending for the Golden Valley Conference title.
"That definitely makes a difference, but the score should not have been 4-1," WNCC coach Hillary Arthur said.
WNCC outshot Feather River 18-7. "When you don't put your shots away and you make defensive errors this is the result," Arthur said. "We definitely didn't bring our A game. Basically we started the game really flat and had some major defensive errors throughout the game."
Arthur also said the Golden Eagles scored two goals after it appeared they were offsides. Courtney Lenhart scored WNCC's goal on a penalty kick after Courtney Hayes drew the foul.
