SOUTH LAKE TAHOE - A former teacher charged with creating, possessing and distributing child pornography was denied bail as a next hearing date was scheduled for December.
Karsten Gronwold, 49, faces a maximum of 190 years in prison if convicted on all charges he faces.
Gronwold was arrested last month after authorities investigated two Internet accounts, Yahoo! and mySpace.com, containing child pornography that was tied to the former teacher.
A motion for a bail review hearing was filed Oct. 10 but denied three days later by a U.S. Magistrate Judge, according to Patty Pontello, spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Gronwold is scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in Sacramento on Dec. 6 at 9 a.m.
Gronwold was a teacher with Lake Tahoe Unified School District since 1990.
An investigation by the El Dorado County Sheriff's Department has found no wrongdoing in his role as a teacher. Gronwold was set to teach second grade at the Lake Tahoe Environmental Science Magnet School this year.
