Galena tennis teams fall in state

The Galena High boys and girls tennis teams were both eliminated in the NIAA 4A State Championships on Thursday in Reno.

Galena's boys lost its semifinal match 12-6 to Palo Verde while the Grizzly girls lost in the semifinals to Cornonado 14-4. Palo Verde's boys will play Coronado, a 10-8 winner over Reno High, for the title while Coronado's girls will play Bishop Gorman, a 12-6 winner over Reno, for the girls crown.

For Galena's boys, Chris Schwartz and Collin Davis each won two-of-three singles matches while Gavin Deller and Matt Archer won two doubles contests. Schwartz won 6-1, 6-3 and Deller and Archer won 6-3, 6-0. Davis won 6-1, 6-1 and lost his other match 6-7 (5-7).

For Galena's girls, Adrain Potter and Leann Roggensack won twice, winning 7-6 (7-5) and 6-2.
