Methadone found to be cause of teen deaths

Two Valley teenagers died of a drug overdose at Zephyr Cove on July 22.

Alex Haas and Timothy Coleman were found dead near the shore of Lake Tahoe.

According to the Washoe County Coroner's Office, Haas died from methadone intoxication with associated submersion in water. Coleman died of methadone intoxication.

Symptoms of methadone overdose include shallow and labored breathing or it may even cease all respiratory functions. Other effects are weak pulse, low blood pressure, drowsiness, disorientation, coma and death.
