A Carson City man sent to prison in the shooting death of his friend at a party pleaded guilty to battery by a prisoner on Monday in relation to the assault of another inmate in the Carson City Jail.
Donald Davis, 21, decided to plead moments before a trial on the charge was to begin in Carson City District Court.
Court records indicate Davis, awaiting sentencing in the shooting of Zack Warren, assaulted fellow inmate Michael Menke at the Carson City Jail in July.
Davis faces an additional sentence of one to nine years when sentenced Dec. 12.
In August, Davis pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and possession of a firearm and was sentenced to one to four years in the killing of Warren, 18.
According to court records, on June 15, Davis and Warren had joined two other friends at a home at 4900 Carson River Road to party when Davis pointed a gun at Warren and pulled the trigger.
