In a meaningless game, the Carson High girls soccer team lost its season finale 1-0 on Tuesday at Reno High.

Carson (11-3-2, 11-1-2) already had the Sierra League's No. 1 seed wrapped up heading into the Northern 4A playoffs. The Senators will host a first round playoff game against Elko, tentatively set for 4 p.m. Saturday. It's tentatively set for Carson's boys to host their first round matchup against Fallon after the girls game at 6 p.m.

The Senators played much of Tuesday's game without top offensive weapon Brandi Vega, who suffered a bruised knee against Wooster on Saturday. Vega played 10 minutes and then was held out for the rest of the game to make sure she would be ready for Saturday.

"It was a pretty uneventful game," Carson coach Randy Roser said. "The game didn't matter for either one of us. Both teams were definitely backing off."

Roser said he was still pleased with his team's play. "It was actually one of those games where we had a lot of opportunities," he said. "They played hard."

Reno scored the game's only goal on a free kick in the first half. Carson also had a goal called back after Kayla Sanchez took a pass from Danielle Moos. The ball bounced off of the arm of Sanchez into the net and Sanchez was called for a hands violation.
