Alta B. 'Penny' Mirk

A graveside service for Alta B. "Penny" Mirk, 80, a 15-year Minden resident, will take place at 1 p.m. today at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

Mrs. Mirk died Sept. 2, 2006, in Minden. She was born April 23, 1926, in Detroit to Harry Hobday and Mary Loughner.

She married Donald Mirk on April 27, 1944.

Before moving to Minden, she lived in Irvine, Calif.

She enjoyed classic cars, attending car shows, painting, gardening, crocheting, spending time with her dog Missy and playing at Cactus Jacks casino.

She was preceded in death by her husband; by daughter Janice Mirk; and by a sister and two brothers.

Among her survivors are her son and daughter-in-law Richard and Judy Mirk of Minden; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Cremation will take place at Walton's Sierra Crematory.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
