The Carson High girls soccer team had plenty of offensive, but couldn't keep up in a 6-4 loss at Manogue on Tuesday.
Brandi Vega scored twice and Ann Sinnott and Brandi Vega each scored once for Carson. The Senators, which took 17 shots, trailed 3-1 at halftime before pulling to within 4-3, but Manogue pulled away.
"We made a good run at them," Carson coach Randy Roser said. "We're trying to get everyone in to see what we have with a young team."
Carson needs to know what it has now as it opens Sierra League play against arch rival Douglas at 3 p.m. Saturday at CHS. "Now we've got to get down to business," Roser said.
Manogue was able to score two of its goals on free kicks. "It was just one of those things where we didn't play badly," Roser said. "A couple of goals were unfortunate.
"There was not a lot to complain about.
"Our attack is great. We're very quick. We handled the ball well and moved the ball well."
