Carson Valley Inn set for football

Football season is underway and the Carson Valley Inn Hotel/Casino provides big screen action, Sunday and Monday food and beer specials, a variety of betting opportunities at the Sports Book, and double points Mondays plus free prize drawings during Monday Night Football.

The Inn's Café Cabaret is open for NFL action and values on Sundays from 10:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. and Mondays from 5 p.m. until the end of the third quarter. A variety of super-size football munchies are just $1.75 including nachos smothered in chili and cheese, sloppy barbecue beef brisket sandwich on a bun, Chicago red hots steamed in beer, chili cheese dogs, stadium popcorn buckets, cheesy nachos, and chili bowl and deli sandwich slices. Bud or Bud Lite jumbo draft beer is just $1.25.

Mondays at the Inn bring double points all day for INN Club members and plenty of drawings during Monday Night Football for casino players and those watching the game in the Cabaret Lounge - plus players in the Poker Room during the game. Prizes include NFL logo shirts and hats for the teams playing that night, colorful new 2006 Carson Valley Inn "INN Zone" t-shirts and the popular one-day lift tickets for Kirkwood ski resort.

At the Cal Neva Sports Book in the Carson Valley Inn, anyone interested can sign up all season long for Northern Nevada's richest and most popular football handicapping contest, "Pick Your Pros." This season-long $350,000 contest provides weekly and year-end prize money and the entry fee for the whole season is $25 for pros, $20 for college or $35 for both.

Parlay cards can be played 52 weeks a year and there are many extra weekly football parlay cards plus Sunday and Monday-night proposition cards and halftime wagers on all NFL games and all televised college football games. The Cal Neva Sports Book at the Carson Valley Inn also offers future and proposition wagering, index wagering and a full spectrum of sports choices.

Signups for adult volleyball league

Carson City Parks and Recreation is now acception registration for its fall adult volleyball league.

Signups are being held Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Sept. 15 at the Carson City Community Center office. Cost is $170 per team and the fee must be paid at registration.

Coed II, III and IV will play on Mondays and/or Wednesdays, women's II, III and IV will play on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays and the men will play on Sundays. League play begins Sept. 20. For more information, call Joel Dunn, 887-2290, extension 104.

Pediatric golf event is scheduled

The sixth annual golf tournament to benefit the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation will be Sunday, Sept. 24 at Silver Oak Golf Course. Shotgun start is 8 a.m.

A 2007 Harley Davidson is being offered by Carson City Harley Davidson for a hole-in-one. There will also be drawing prizes and several auction items. Cost is $75 which includes golf, cart and lunch.
