Carson City


Birding trip in Carson City Saturday


The Lahontan Audubon Society and the Friends of the Silver Saddle Ranch are sponsoring a birding trip at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at the ranch in Carson City.


Immediately following the bird walk, participants are invited to participate in the Friends of the Silver Saddle Ranch's "Ranch Breakfast" fundraiser.

'Breakfast with Bob' this weekend


"Breakfast with Bob," a fundraiser for the Alzheimer's Capital City Memory Walk 2006, will be held from 8-11 a.m. Saturday at the Carson City Senior Citizens Center, 911 Beverly Dr. Bingo will be played from 11 a.m.-noon.


Cost for seniors and children 11 and younger is $7.50; general admission is $11 for all-you-can-eat.


All proceeds will go to the Northern Nevada Alzheimer's Association. For information, call 883-0703.


Hike offered for seniors, Sierra Club


There will be a hike to Thunder Mountain day hike on the trail near Kirkwood off of Highway 88 in the Carson Pass area on Sept. 9 for the Carson City Senior Center and Sept. 10 for the Sierra Club.


This is approximately a nine mile round trip with about 2,000 feet of elevation gain; hikers should be experienced and conditioned.


No dogs are allowed and storms cancel the trip. To sign up call (775) 530-2935 two days prior to the trip.


Lake Tahoe


Fundraiser to benefit cancer center


"Live it UP! At the Lake," a benefit for the Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center and their new Cancer Center, will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday at Kern Schumacher's lakeside estate at Incline Village.


Participants will have the opportunity to join sessions of yoga and pilates, indulge in a massage or reiki energy healing session, or play tennis and beach volleyball. Cost is $500 per person.


Reserved tables for eight, including eight event passes, are available from $4,500-$5,000. For information call 886-7371.

Walk for Arthritis


Teams are forming for the Arthritis Foundation's first annual Walk for Arthritis starting at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Sparks Marina. There are one and three mile courses as well as a doggie walk.
