Northern Nevada Senior Games this weekend

Douglas County Senior Services will be hosting the ninth annual Northern Nevada Senior Games Sept. 9 - 16 at various locations throughout Douglas County and Carson City.

Registration is $15 per athlete for a single event, $25 for two or more events and $60 for the golf event.

The registration deadline was Sept. 1 but if openings are available sign-ups will be accepted the day of the event. For information call (775) 783-6455.

Guinn hosts Tin Cup Tea Saturday at the mansion

Governor Kenny Guinn and First Lady Dema Guinn will be hosting the Seventh Annual Tin Cup Tea and Chuck Wagon BBQ from 5 - 10 p.m. Saturday at the Governor's Mansion, 606 N. Mountain St.

Cost is $45 per person and proceeds go towards the Nevada State Museum and other museums. For information call 687-4810 ext. 222.

"September Swing" at the senior center

The Carson City Senior Citizens Center will be holding a "September Swing" dance from 7 - 10 p.m. Saturday at the center.

Music will be provided by the Joe Rossi Band and dance lessons will be held by Thane Cornell from 6 - 7 p.m. Cost is $6 per person. For information call 883-0703.

Reservations for footprint dinner due Thursday

Reservations for the September dinner meeting of the International Footprint Association, Carson Valley Chapter 72, must be made by Thursday, Sept. 14.

The dinner meeting will be held on Sept. 21 at the Piñon Plaza in Carson City. For information or to make reservations call 267-4355 or 266-3435.

Battle of the Bands this weekend at Nugget lot

Jester's Joust: Battle of the Bands will take place this weekend at the west parking lot of the Carson Nugget.

There will be food, and bands competing to win cash prizes.

All proceeds go to benefit the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada.
