A memorial service for Gloria Olkein, 68, a 10-year Silver Springs resident, will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith.
Mrs. Olkein She died Sept. 7, 2006, in Carson City. She was born July 20, 1938, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Joseph Snolis and Mary Luchen.
She married Samuel Olkein on May 23, 1959, in New York.
Before moving to Silver Springs, she lived in Phelan, Calif.
Mrs. Olkein was a security guard and participated in roller derby in New York in her youth. She was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose.
She was preceded in death by her husband, and brother Joseph Snolis Jr.
Among her survivors are son Steve Olkein of Carson City; daughter Gloriann Scrugham of El Monte, Calif.; sister Joan Cuches, of North Brunswick, N.J.; grandchildren Randall Scott and Corine Nicole Scrugham, both of Claremont, Calif.; and several extended-family members.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.
FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
