A 47-year-old man was taken to Washoe Medical Center and listed in good condition hours after he was shot twice and stabbed once when three men entered his South Lake Tahoe home early Monday morning, authorities said.

William Atkins was taken to Washoe Medical Center in Reno via a CALSTAR helicopter, according to South Lake Tahoe police Lt. Marty Hale.

Authorities are investigating the incident as a residential robbery and attempted murder. No arrests have been made, and the weapons involved have not been recovered, Hale said.

Hale said police received a call at 2:58 a.m. from a "distraught female" saying her roommate was shot.

"As far as we can tell, there was no forced entry," Hale said.

Next-door neighbor Jeramy Stonebeck said he heard three to five gunshots, but didn't see the potential suspects.

"I didn't see anyone running. I didn't see any cars taking off, but it was like 3:30 in the morning so I was half awake," he said.
