It was a frustrating loss for the Western Nevada Community College women's soccer team.
Against the team they figure to be competing with for the Scenic West Athletic Conference title the Wildcats lost 2-0 at North Idaho. WNCC coach Hillary Arthur couldn't hide her frustration with the officiating. Arthur said both of North Idaho's goals in the second half came on questionable officiating calls.
Arthur said one goal came when North Idaho was clearly offsides and the other came off of a throw-in that should have been awarded to the Wildcats.
"The official definitely impacted the outcome of the game," was all Arthur would say about the officiating. "It shouldn't have been 2-0."
But Arthur was pleased with her team's play. "We played a solid 90 minutes," she said. "It was back and forth. It was probably one of our better games."
It was a costly loss for WNCC as top defender Dominique Glude missed most of the game after suffering a hyperextended knee in the first 20 minutes. Glude had returned from a broken wrist.
Arthur praised the play of Meghan Olsen, who started at forward and then moved back to replace Glude at sweeper. Arthur also praised the play of Hannah Lee, Demi Vega and Jessica Maule.
Glude is on a day-to-day basis, Arthur said. WNCC (3-4-2, 1-1) will play Northwest Christian College today in Idaho. Arthur said the Wildcats will play it safe with Glude as it's not worth it to risk aggravating her injury in a nonconference game.
