Teen accidental shoots off part of friend's finger

An 18-year-old Gardnerville man was accidentally shot in the hand and leg Friday while shooting with friends at the Rancho Sandpits, according to Douglas County Sheriff deputies.

The .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun discharged when an 18-year-old passed it to his friend. The victim's left ring finger was partially amputated. He was transported by Care Flight to Renown Medical Center, formally known as Washoe Medical Center. The victim is in stable condition.

Deputies responded to the Carson Valley Medical Center at 4 p.m. to investigate the report. Another 18-year-old was present during the shooting.
