Carson girls soccer beats Wooster

The Carson High girls soccer team tuned up for another key Sierra League showdown with a 5-0 win at Wooster on Tuesday.

Carson (5-2-1, 5-0-1) will host another one of the Sierra League's top teams, Reno High, at 3 p.m. Saturday.

"It was a pretty uneventful game," Carson coach Randy Roser said. "We got everbody good playing time. Now we gear up for Reno."

Freshman Brenda Luquin had a goal and two assists. "Brenda Luquin's starting to fit into the varsity program pretty well," Roser said.

Helaine Berris scored in the first three minutes on an assist from Kat Von Rumpf. "We're seeing more out of Helaine Berris," Roser said.

Von Rumpf thens scored on an assist by Luquin and Luquin scored to give Carson a 3-0 lead. In the second half, Brandi Vega scored and Becca Kane scored on an assist from Luquin. Goalies Jennifer Johnson and Carly Mathat combined on the shutout.
