A celebration of life for Kent Byers, 67, a longtime Carson Valley resident, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Methodist Church in Gardnerville.
Mr. Byers died Sept. 22, 2006, at his home in Gardnerville due to medical complications. He was born Nov. 21, 1938, in Long Beach, Calif., to Henry F. Byers and Florence Dolf.
His family moved to Gardnerville in 1945 and he graduated from Douglas High School in 1956 before attending the University of Nevada, Reno.
He married Deborah Haase in 1963 and moved to Sparks. He returned to the Carson Valley in 1969.
He worked with Bentley Nevada Corp. for 31 years, retiring in 2000.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He enjoyed working on and looking at classic cars and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Pinard and brother, John Byers.
Among his survivors are his wife of 43 years of Gardnerville; son, Steven Byers of Twin Falls, Idaho; daughter, Julie Hughes-Anderson of Carson City; and three grandsons.
