Carson High graduate Cassie Bowman, a freshman was instrumental in the William Penn Lady Statesmen soccer team finally getting into the win column last week and she was awarded for her efforts by being named the Midwest Classic Conference Player of the Week, announced Tuesday.
The freshman scored four goals with one assist as the NAIA school finished the week at 2-1 and improved to 2-8 (1-0 in the MCC) on the year. Bowman tallied two goals, including the game-winner in her squad's 3-1 triumph over Coe last week, and then was part of all three scores in the Lady Statesmen's 3-2 overtime victory over Mount Mercy on Saturday.
