College begins cultural series

Candace Cable was in a car accident that left her legs paralyzed. For many, this would be a reason to become discouraged and give up on life. Not for Candace Cable.

After her accident, she won more than 80 wheelchair marathons, two Olympic medals and a World Cup title in women's cross-country ski racing.

Cable comes to Western Nevada Community College on Friday, Oct. 20, to tell her inspiring story of how she turned a life-threatening injury into a successful 27-year athletic career.

"Choosing Victory" is the first featured program of Western's 2006-2007 Cultural Series: "Faces, Voices & Stories."

Admission is free, and the program begins at 7 p.m. in Marlette Hall, 2201 W. College Parkway.
