Darrell Rasner's chance of making the postseason roster appeared to decrease on Saturday with the latest developments concerning Randy Johnson.

Johnson is scheduled to start game three in the American League Division Series as New York Yankees manager Joe Torre has penciled him in to start. Johnson had been suffering from back spasms, which were caused by a herniated disc.

After receive treatment, Johnson is no longer being bothered by back spasms. He threw on the outfield grass for about 10 minutes on Saturday.

Johnson will throw 40 pitches off the mound today, which will be more of a barometer of if he can make his start.

If Johnson can't go that could open up a spot on the postseason roster for Rasner, a 1999 Carson High graduate. Torre will carry 11 pitchers in the postseason so he can have an extra pitcher to fill the long relief role.

If Johnson can't go, that long relief role would likely be filled by either Rasner or Jeff Karstens. Torre has until 7 a.m. Tuesday to name is ALDS roster.
