Carson-Douglas Rodeo solid again

The Carson-Douglas Rodeo Club continued to turn in impressive efforts at recent Nevada State High School Association rodeos in Fallon and Fernley.

In Fallon during Saturday's go-round, Alyce Kugler tied for second in girls cutting with 122.55 points. Byron Kreck took sixth in boys cutting. Gardnerville's Jonathan Glocknitzer, who competes as an independent, won the event with 155.15 points.

In Sunday's go-round, Spencer Osterling was third in bullriding, scoring a 65. Elyse Heberger was 10th in goat tying and Karysa Perez was seventh in pole bending. Kugler was fifth in girls cutting, Kreck was sixth in boys cutting while Glocknitzer won the event again.

Glocknitzer was unable to make several of the rodeos earlier in the season, but now is quickly moving up the standings with his wins.

In Fernley in Saturday's go-round, Kugler was second with 136.80 points, Kreck was sixth and Glocknitzer was second with 115.03 points. On Sunday, Kugler tied for eighth, Kreck was sixth and Glocknitzer was second again with 128.40 points.

Laack helps George Fox to 3rd in 4x400

Carson High graduate Terah Laack helped the George Fox University women's track 4x400 relay team to a third place finish at the Point Loma Nazarene University Spring Break meet in San Diego.

Laack and the Bruins finished in 4 minutes, 1.23 seconds. The Oregon schools also finished sixth in the team standings with 227 points behind Point Loma (406.5), Williams (386), Middlebury (324), Azusa Pacific (262.5) and Cal Lutheran (230.5).

Carson City AYSO signups scheduled

Carson City American Youth Soccer will hold fall signups from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 17 and Wednesday, May 2 at the Carson High north entrance.

Preregistration can be done online at www.AYSOcarsoncity.org to speed up the process, although registration must be completed in person. Cost is $50 for the first child and $45 for each additional sibling. There will be a $5 discount for those who complete preregistration online before April 17.

Flight B: Low net - Carl Slate 64 (won tiebreaker); second - Dick Montoya 64; third - Gerald Cumpton 66; fourth - Wilson Matlack 67 (won tiebreaker); fifth - Ross Sidebottom 67.
