Resource advisory council meets today


The Sierra Front-Northwestern Great Basin Resource Advisory Council will meet from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. today at the Bureau of Land Management Carson City Field Office, 5665 Morgan Mill Road.


There will be a field trip to public land sites in Churchill County, departing at 8 a.m. and returning at 4 p.m. Thursday to the field office. Topics include manager's reports of current field office activities, RAC subcommittee reports, updates on the Pine Nut Mountain RMP Amendment/DEIS, the field office's Saddle-Trained Patrol Horse Program, the BLM three-tier office structure, a review of the geothermal energy program and additional topics.


The public may present general written or oral comments to the committee at 4 p.m. Call 885-6107.




Democrats to meet

Strings in the Schools to perform


Carson City Symphony's "Strings in the Schools" after-school program and guests the Damonte Ranch Middle School eighth-grade orchestra will present a concert at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada, 813 N. Carson St. The concert is free and open to the public.


Seating is limited, and preference will be given to parents and guests of performers. Call 267-6924.




Prescription assistance bus to stop in Carson City


The "Help is Here Express" bus tour will be returning to Carson City to find programs that help uninsured Americans find prescription medication. This bus tour is part of the Partnership for Prescription Assistance, a national effort that has helped more than 24,000 people in Nevada.


The bus is staffed by trained specialists who will help low income, uninsured and underinsured patients access more than 475 patient assistance programs.

Auditions Thursday for comedy


The Dakota Organization, a nonprofit theatrical production company, will be holding auditions for its upcoming comedy "Sylvia," directed by Rod Hearn.


The following roles are open: Two women aged 20-50, two men aged 30-50 and one androgynous actor, age 30-50. New York accents are a plus but not necessary.
