Carson City


Airport Authority workshop is today


Members of the Carson City Airport Authority will meet for a Title 19 workshop at 6 p.m. today in the Terminal Building at the Carson City Airport, 2600 East College Parkway.


Meditation classes to start today


There will be a six-week series of classes entitled "Introduction to Meditation" 7:15-8:30 p.m. Monday at All About Yoga Studio and Supplies, 343 Fairview Drive Ste. 204. Cost is $140 and includes instruction, the book "Wherever You Go, There You Are" by Jon Kabat-Zinn and your choice of meditation cushion or locally handcrafted kneeling bench. Dog obedience classes start Tuesday


Instructor Guy Yeaman will be holding the next series of his dog obedience classes starting 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Fuji Park Exhibit Hall. Cost is $75 for a six-week session. Every dog must have a choke chain and a fabric or leather lead. Dogs must be at least 4 months old and current on their shots to attend this class. Classes are Tuesday nights at 6:30 p.m. For information or to register, call 265-4530.


DAV to meet Tuesday


Disabled American Veterans chapter 7 of Carson City will be meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Veterans Hall at the corner of Second and Curry streets in Carson City. All DAV members are encouraged to attend, and all veterans are welcome.


Republican Women will meet Tuesday


The Carson City Republican Women's Club will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Carson City Nugget, second floor, Room B. Guest speakers will be State Assemblyman/Minority Leader Garn Mabey, and 2007 Club scholarship candidates. Call 841-6146.


NARFE meets Tuesday


The National Active and Retired Federal Employees chapter 1329 will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grandma Hattie's. Lunch is optional. Telephone Pioneers to meet Tuesday


The Telephone Pioneers will be holding its monthly dinner meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mom and Pop's Diner, 224 S. Carson St. Cost is $18 for a dinner buffet, which includes dessert. Guest speaker Kevin Ray will discuss the V&T. Call 882-5205.

Special storytimes at Douglas library


The Douglas County Public Library branch located at 1625 Library Lane in Minden will be holding special storytimes to celebrate National Library Week at 4 p.m. Tuesday and 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Each child attending storytime will receive a free book to take home, compliments of the Friends of the Douglas County Public Library. Call 782-9841.


Nutritionist to speak at senior center


Douglas County Senior Services will be hosting a presentation entitled "Managing Chronic Conditions through Nutrition" at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Douglas County Senior Citizens Center, 2300 Meadow Lane, Gardnerville. Call 783-6455.
