Author to sign book on mint at state museum
Rusty Goe, the award-winning author of 2004's "The Mint on Carson Street" has released a new biography on the life of James Crawford, superintendent of the Carson City Mint.
Goe will sign copies of his new book, "James Crawford: Master of the Mint at Carson City - a Short Full Life," 10:30 a.m-3 p.m. Saturday at the Nevada State Museum.
In addition to the book signing, museum volunteers Ken and Karen Hopple will be operating historic Coin Press No. 1 from 1- 4 p.m.

Library friends host 'Dollar a Book' book sale
The Friends of the Carson City Library will host a two-day "Dollar a Book Sale" in the Carson City Library Auditorium 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
The library is at 900 N. Roop St.
A Members Preview Sale will be 9-10 a.m. Friday. A variety of books will be available for people of all ages and interests.

Auditions Tuesday for 'The Nerd' comedy
The Dakota Organization, a Minden-based, nonprofit theatrical production company is holding auditions for "The Nerd" at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at 1669 Lucerne St. in Minden.
There will be cold readings from the script. The comedy centers on a hilarious dilemma of a young architect who is visited by a man he's never met, but who saved his life in the war and just happens to be a nerd.
