Woman pleads in pizza shop drive thru

A Carson City woman who drove her car through a pizza parlor last month pleaded guilty in Carson City district court on Monday.

Nicole Andrews, 23, pleaded guilty to felony leaving the scene of an accident causing injury. In exchange for the plea, a charge of leaving the scene of an accident causing property damage was dismissed. Andrews is also expected to plead to first-offense drunken driving in Carson City Justice Court.

Judge Todd Russell granted Andrews a release on her own recognizance. She will be sentenced Oct. 15.

On July 12, Andrews drove her car through the front window of Papa Murphy's Pizza on South Carson Street, then backed out and fled, striking a vehicle in the process. She was eventually stopped in the parking lot of the Gold Dust West Casino where here blood alcohol level was reported to be .264 - more than three times the legal limit - when taken during a preliminary breath test.

Also before Judge Russell on Monday:

• Juan Carlos Amador, 42, pleaded not guilty to sexual assault. A trial date is set for Oct. 30. Amador is accused of raping a girl in his Woodside Drive garage on July 8.

• Jay David Finders, 45, pleaded guilty to felony driving under the influence of alcohol after a prior felony conviction. He faces 24 to 180 months in prison when sentenced Sept. 10.

• Kyle Higday, 30, pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine. He faces 12 to 48 months in prison and a $5,000 fine when sentenced Oct. 10.

• Troy Steven Manies, 31, was given a suspended prison sentence of up to four years and probation for up to five years on two charges of possession of a controlled substance.

• Juan Carlos Paredes-Flores, 19, was sentenced to two to seven years in prison on a charge of trafficking. When asked if he had anything to say prior to his sentencing, the tearful Mexico native replied, "What can I do? Nothing."
