CHS Football Hall of Fame dinner is Saturday


Carson High School Football's annual Adele's Dinner, Dance and Hall of Fame Inductees will start at 6 p.m. Saturday. Live music will be provided by Moonlight Express with Comma Coffee's June Joplin singing. For tickets and information, call 882-7207.




Domestic violence and the workplace topic of morning meeting


Karl Neathammer will be the speaker at today's Sierra Nevada Human Resources Association meeting 7:30 a.m. today in the Casino Fandango, buffet conference room. He will be speaking on the workplace and domestic violence. Cost is $5 for members and $10 for nonmembers. Call 450-9180.




Kids theater tech workshop offered


Wild Horse Children's Theater and the Carson City Bob Boldrick Theater offer a technical theater workshop designed for students ages 12 and up interested in the behind-the-scenes theater experience.


In this three-hour introductory workshop, students will have the opportunity to learn the basic elements of theater sound and lighting systems using professional sound and lighting equipment. This workshop will be "hands-on" and students will have the opportunity to set up a basic sound system and will hang, patch, and focus a lighting instrument.


The workshop is 9 a.m. to noon Friday and will be taught by Preston Dunn, technical supervisor at the Bob Boldrick Theater as well as a freelance systems technician.


Cost is $30. Workshop will be at the Bob Boldrick Theater at 851 E. Williams St. Space is limited to 18. To sign up, call 887-0438 or e-mail wildhorsearts@aol.com.




Scrapbooking Class today at Carson City Senior Center


Learn how to quickly preserve your memories and photos into safe, meaningful albums. There will be a class 10 a.m. today in the Job's Peak Room at the Carson City Senior Citizens Center, 901 Beverly Drive. Bring a few photos as a sampler will be made. Fee $5. Call 885-8230.




Reno


Largest Political Memorabilia Convention in West Comes to Reno


Friday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Atlantis Resort & Casino, 3800 South Virginia Street hundreds of collectors, political junkies, and history buffs will descend on Reno for the largest political memorabilia convention in the West. Admission is $10 for both days; $20 for families for both days; children and students free. Also, any declared 2008 presidential candidates will be admitted free.

Prezident Brown, Bluegrass fest on tap


Prezident Brown plays at the River Ranch Lodge in Tahoe City tonight. Doors open at 8 p.m., showtime 9:30. Tickets are $15 for those 21 and over.


The Truckee Bluegrass Festival with Hot Buttered Rum and the Rusty Strings at the Truckee River Park Amphitheatre on Saturday. Gates open at 4:30, showruns from 5 until 10 p.m., tickets are $20 for the all-ages show.
