Those hunters who wish to be included in the upcoming drawing for tags to hunt wild turkeys in the Nevada Fall season have until 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 7 to submit their applications.
Applications are available at license agents, Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) regional offices or on the Internet at www.ndow.org.
Applications must be received at the Wildlife Administrative Services office in Fallon by 5 p.m. on Sept. 7 to be eligible for the tag drawing.
Limit: One bearded wild turkey. Shooting hours: Sunrise to sunset, daily.
Northern Nevada dates and quotas for the Mason Valley Wildlife Management Area of Lyon County are:
Oct. 5-14: 10 tags.
Oct. 15-24: 10 tags.
Oct. 25-Nov. 3: 10 tags.
Tag drawing results will be available on Sept. 21.
No weapons may be used to hunt wild turkey other than a:
1. Shotgun which is no larger than 10 gauge nor smaller than 20 gauge and uses a shot size no larger than a number 2 pellet: or
2. Longbow and arrow.
Shot used to hunt wild turkey on a wildlife management area must be Non-toxic shot and not larger than standard-size T.
Costs: $20 for a tag, plus a $3 predator management fee and a $2 Internet Online Convenience fee.
