Intake No. 2: A 4-pound, 10-ounce Alper's Trophy Rainbow on rainbow Gulp. A 4-pounds, 4-ounce Alpers.

North Lake: Slowed down a little this week but still some decent action on Power Bait or Cody Bullets. For flies, olive color seemed to be the key.

South Lake: Anglers who went behind the island on Saturday reported almost a fish with every cast using nightcrawlers or Trout Traps with a small chunk of worm on them.

Bishop Creek: Lots of limits coming out with sizes in the 3/4 to 1-pound range. Panther/Martin lures have been great with some good action on red Salmon eggs.

BISHOP, CALIF. AREA:

Sabrina Lake: Rick and Patti Apted of the Lake Sabrina Boat Landing (760-873-7425): Fishing this week was on the fair side at the Dingleberry Inlet with worms, eggs and Power Bait. The trollers were using flashers and worms or leadcore line with a red/gold Thomas Buoyant lure at 5 colors. The drifters were still bringing in the most fish using worms or Power Bait. Power Bait was used by the shore anglers.

BLUE LAKES AREA, CALIF: Dave Kirby of the Woodfords Station (530-694-2930): The campgrounds are going to stay open through the end of the hunting season, dependent on the weather.

BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR, CALIF: The Trout Fitter in Mammoth Lakes, Calif. (760) 924-3676: As of Sept. 13: The fishing has been fair to good. The water temps are starting to drop faster with the cold nights. You want to be fishing at Rocky Point, Rainbow Point or outside of Buckeye Bay. You want to be fishing in 8-15 ft. of water. For bait, try Gulp in Rainbow Candy or Chunky Chartreuse and Night Crawlers. For lures, try 1/4 oz. Kastmasters in silver /red tape or silver/orange, Thunderbolts in Perch or gold and CD-3 Rapalas in Perch or Fire Tiger. Trollers have been sticking some nice Browns in the evening with large Rapalas and spoons by the dam. Even try casting large Rapalas off the dam.

CAPLES LAKE, CALIF: Dave Kirby reported: There was good fishing over the weekend for both shore fishermen and boaters. A friend of mine and his partner caught and released 20-25 fish in 2.5 hours with flashers and worms or small lures.

CAPLES LAKE, CALIF: Elmer Bull of Yerington reported that on Saturday, the shore fishermen were catching some fish at the second dam. They were using marshmallows and worms on the bottom. Lots of boats out on the lake. It got very windy in the afternoon, the temperature was 54 degrees and it was coat weather.

CARSON RIVERS, CALIF:

East Carson River: Todd Sodaro and Chad Machado of the Carson River Resort (877-694-2229): It was 40 degrees this morning (Tuesday). The water is staying nice and clear. Richard Dean caught a 6.9 pound rainbow on red salmon eggs. All of our cabins were full of fly fishermen this last week.

West Carson River: Dave Kirby: Low and clear water makes the fishing challenging.

CONVICT LAKE, CALIF: Launa Strickland at the Convict Lake Resort (800-992-2260): Greg Oldham from Simi Valley caught the Big Fish of The Week, bringing in a gorgeous Rainbow weighing in at 7 pounds. Greg used Yellow Power Bait on the North Shore. Spring Green Gulp and Chartreuse Power Bait are the best bet, with nightcrawlers working well, also. Get out there early in the morning or about an hour before sunset for maximum results.

CONVICT LAKE, CALIF: The Trout Fitter in Mammoth Lakes, Calif. (760) 924-3676): As of Sept. 13: Convict has been fishing good. You want to be fishing by the inlet, the southwest side or right next to the Marina. Berkeley Gulp in Chunky Cheese or Chartreuse and nightcrawlers. For Lures, try 1/4 Oz. Kastmasters in silver/red tape or Brook Trout, 1/4 Oz. Thomas Buoyant in silver/blue or Frog and CD-3 Rapalas in Rainbow Trout or Brook Trout. Give a try with a Berkeley Trout Worms with a split shot rig.

DAVIS LAKE, CALIF: The lake, its shorelines, all its tributaries, all land upslope of these water bodies to the ridge tops of the Freeman Creek watershed, and all campgrounds, boat launches, and day use sites in the Davis Lake Recreation Area are now closed for the eradication of Northern Pike. This closure will remain in effect until the tributaries and Davis Lake are found to be free of rotenone constituents.

FRENCHMAN RESERVOIR, CALIF: Wiggin's Trading Post at Chilcoot, Calif. (530-993-4683): Bank fishing has been pretty good at the dam. Nightcrawlers are still the best bait. Cinnamon, olive or black flies are working well, too.

FT. CHURCHILL COOLING PONDS (on the Mason Valley Wildlife Management Area): The 2007 fishing season will close on Sept. 30.

JUNE LAKE LOOP, CALIF: The Trout Fitter in Mammoth Lakes, Calif. (760) 924-3676: As of Sept. 13: Gull has been the best lake for Alpers. For numbers, try Grant or Silver. Make sure to focus on dropoffs, weed lines and deep bays. Berkeley Gulp Eggs in pink or Chartreuse and Berkeley Gulp dough in Rainbow Candy or Chunky Cheese. Try using the Berkeley Trout Worms 4-7 feet under a bobber next to weed lines or dropoffs. For lures, try 1/4 Oz. Kastmasters in silver/orange or Cutthroat, CD-3 Rapalas in gold and silver, Thunderbolts in silver or gold and 1/4 Oz. Roostertails in Fire Tiger or yellow. Don't forget about the Trout Traps in Roe or Firecracker when you're out in a boat.

LAHONTAN RESERVOIR, NEV: Missy Swain and Shirley at Burke's Market at Silver Springs (775-577-2750): Same as last week: We do not advise you to launch a boat. We encourage you to fish from a float tube or rubber raft or fish from a chair on the shore due to the low water levels. The water is super low.

MAMMOTH LAKES, CALIF: The Trout Fitter in Mammoth Lakes, Calif. (760) 924-3676: As of Sept. 13: The Lakes Basins has been fair. I would start at Mamie or the Twins and Move to George or Mary in the afternoon. Try nightcrawlers, Berkeley Power Trout Worms in red or pink with a couple split shot 2-3 ft. above a split shot and Berkeley Gulp in Chunky Cheese or Rainbow Candy. For lures, try 1/4 Oz. Thomas Buoyant in gold/red or Rainbow Trout, 1/6 Oz. Panther Martin In black/red dots, Jake's Spin-a-Lure in gold and CD-3 Rapala in Brook Trout or Rainbow Trout. Trollers getting down 4-7 colors with Flatfish, Kastmasters and Tasmanian Devils are pulling up good numbers of big rainbow trout. For the first and last hour of the day try a fly and bubble set up.

NORTH POND (on the Mason Valley Wildlife Management Area): The 2007 fishing season will close on Sept. 30.

RED LAKE, CALIF: Dave Kirby reported that C K and Jackie Baily of Carson City caught and released lots of rainbows and brookies while fishing with flies from their float tubes.

SACRAMENTO RIVER: Kirk Portocarrero of Outdoor Adventures Sport Fishing, Redding, Calif. (800-670-4448): No report.

King Salmon: Fishing has been slower than expected, averaging two salmon per boat, but they are BIG salmon. Some days are better than others.. The salmon being caught now are 30 lbs. plus, a few over 40 pounds already. Lots of salmon in the water, just tough fishing, working all day for the catch. Look to November & December for even bigger salmon.

Rainbow trout: Fly fishing is good, drifting from Redding to Anderson, late afternoons, evening best bet. Nice size trout, average day's catch, 10-20 trout. Flies that are working well are Fox's Poopahs, Prince Nymphs, Gidgets, and Micro May.

LAKE TAHOE - North Shore:

Gene St. Denis of Blue Ribbon Charters and Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552): We have been trolling 80-240 feet deep. We locate the fish on the fish finder and then troll in a "Figure Eight" pattern, bouncing the bottom hard. I've been fishing at the Tahoe City Shelf and Cal-Neva. We are getting 1-9 Mackinaw per trip.

LAKE TAHOE - South Shore: Gene St. Denis: I've been fishing 160 feet deep at Ski Run Shelf. Trolling with silver Herring Dodger flasher blades and minnows. Bouncing off the bottom in a serpentine pattern. Catching Mackinaw in the 2-5 pound class.

LAKE TAHOE - East Shore: Gene St. Denis: Shore fishing has slowed down.

TOPAZ LAKE: Chuck and Linda Fields at the Topaz Lake Marina (775-266-3550): The 2007 fishing season will close on Sept. 30.

TWIN LAKES, CALIF: Upper Twin Lake: Annett's Mono Village (760-932-7071): A 6-pound, 6-ounce rainbow on an orange Woolly Bugger fly. A 5-pound rainbow on a trolled orange Rapala lure. Two browns weighing in at 4-pounds, 1-ounce and 2-pound, 6-ounces on a small brook trout Rapala lure. Red/gold Thomas Buoyant lures and nightcrawlers and yellow Power Bait bringing in loaded stringers from shore.

WILDHORSE RESERVOIR, NEV: Dennis Dunn, Mark, Rocket and Scott at the Wild Horse Resort (775) 758-6472: Fishing is good for perch, bass and catfish. Trout are hitting but few and far between. NDOW will be stocking anytime.
