Sabrina Lake: Rick and Patti Apted of the Lake Sabrina Boat Landing (760-873-7425): Fishing the Dingleberry Inlet with Power Bait or worms usually will garnish a few limits along with drifting the same baits and shore fishing with worms or eggs. Trolling flashers and worms should also still be bringing in limits. With the snow and cooler temps, the fish are starting to come up. David Trevino of Chino Hills was able to finally lure a big fish out of the lake: A 4-pound Alpers on a Nightcrawler.

BLUE LAKES AREA, CALIF: Dave Kirby of the Woodfords Station (530-694-2930): Really quiet this last weekend. Probably due to people staying home with all the motorcycles on the highways.

BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR, CALIF: The Trout Fitter in Mammoth Lakes, Calif. (760) 924-3676: As of Sept. 21: Fishing has been fair to good. This place should pick up with fall conditions in effect. The fall can produce some really big monsters. The water temps are starting to drop faster with the cold nights. You want to be fishing at Rocky Point, Rainbow Point or outside of Buckeye Bay. You want to be fishing in 8-15 ft. of water. For bait, try Gulp in Rainbow Candy or Chunky Chartreuse and nightcrawlers. For lures, try 1/4 oz. Kastmasters in silver /red tape or silver/orange, Thunderbolts in Perch or gold and CD-3 Rapalas in Perch or Fire Tiger. Trollers have been sticking some nice Browns in the evening with large Rapalas and spoons by the dam. Even try casting large Rapalas off the dam. Don't forget about fly and bubble with Perch fry patterns such as Olive Matukas and Hornburgs along weed lines.

CARSON RIVERS, CALIF:

East Carson River: Todd Sodaro and Chad Machado of the Carson River Resort (877-694-2229): It's definitely cooled down. The water conditions are the same as for the last six weeks. We had the Santa Fe Flycasters here last weekend, and they all caught fish with flies like Prince Nymphs and Cooper Johns. The bait casters and the lure fishermen were also catching fish. We are staying open through the winter due to the year-round season on the section below Hangman's Bridge.

CONVICT LAKE, CALIF: Launa Strickland at the Convict Lake Resort (800-992-2260): A 10-pound, 1-ounce rainbow on a nightcrawler at the inlet.

CONVICT LAKE, CALIF: The Trout Fitter in Mammoth Lakes, Calif. (760) 924-3676): As of Sept. 21: Has been fishing good. You want to be fishing by the inlet, the southwest side or right next to the Marina. Berkeley Gulp in Chunky Cheese or Chartreuse and nightcrawlers. For lures, try 1/4 oz. Kastmasters in silver/red tape or Brook Trout, 1/4 oz. Thomas Buoyant in silver/blue or Frog and CD-3 Rapalas in Rainbow Trout or Brook Trout. Give a try with a Berkeley Trout Worms with a split shot rig. Now is a good opportunity to get into some of the elusive browns that live at the bottom of the lake.

CROWLEY LAKE, CALIF: The Trout Fitter in Mammoth Lakes, Calif. (760) 924-3676): As of Sept. 21: Only artificial lures with single barbless hooks may be used, and a two fish limit 18 inches or bigger is in effect. Crowley has been fishing fair but the fish have been big if you do hook. McGee and Green Banks are fishing good along with North Landing and Six Bays. Fly and bubble rigs with Leech patterns can be top producers in the fall months. Rapala CD-3 in Gold or Perch, Cyclones in Gold or Perch, 3/16 Krocodile in Gold and Jake's Spin-A-Lure in Silver/red dots. Trout Trap in pearl or Grasshopper and Pumpkin Seed in 6-12 feet under a clear bobber and just barley twitch the bobber. Trollers should be fishing in 20-35 ft. of water off of Life Guard, Sandy or Alligator Point with Rapala CD-5 in Fire Tiger or Perch, Needlefish in silver or Frog , Tasmanian Devils in pink or orange and 1/4 oz, and Kastmasters in silver/red tape or gold.

DAVIS LAKE, CALIF: The lake, its shorelines, all its tributaries, all land upslope of these water bodies to the ridge tops of the Freeman Creek watershed, and all campgrounds, boat launches, and day use sites in the Davis Lake Recreation Area are now closed for the eradication of Northern Pike. This closure will remain in effect until the tributaries and Davis Lake are found to be free of rotenone constituents.

FT. CHURCHILL COOLING PONDS (on the Mason Valley Wildlife Management Area): The 2007 fishing season will close on Sept. 30.

HEENAN LAKE, CALIF: Dave Kirby reported that two fly fishermen in float tubes on Saturday, each caught and released 10-12 Cutthroat trout (up to 24 inches) with Woolly Bugger flies.

JUNE LAKE LOOP, CALIF: The Trout Fitter in Mammoth Lakes, Calif. (760) 924-3676: As of Sept. 21: Gull has been the best lake for Alpers. For numbers, try Grant or Silver. Make sure to focus on dropoffs, weed lines and deep bays. Berkeley Gulp Eggs in pink or Chartreuse and Berkeley Gulp dough in Rainbow Candy or Chunky Cheese. Try using the Berkeley Trout Worms 4-7 feet under a bobber next to weed lines or dropoffs. For lures, try 1/4 oz. Kastmasters in silver/orange or Cutthroat, CD-3 Rapalas in gold or silver, Thunderbolts in silver or gold and 1/4 oz. Roostertails in Fire Tiger or yellow. Don't forget about the Trout Traps in Roe or Firecracker when you're out in a boat. Fly and bubble with streamers is also very deadly in the fall.

LAHONTAN RESERVOIR, NEV: Missy Swain and Shirley at Burke's Market at Silver Springs (775-577-2750): Same as last week: We do not advise you to launch a boat. We encourage you to fish from a float tube or rubber raft or fish from a chair on the shore due to the low water levels. The water is super low and the temps are dropping.

MAMMOTH LAKES, CALIF: The Trout Fitter in Mammoth Lakes, Calif. (760) 924-3676: As of Sept. 21: The Lakes Basins has been fishing fair. I would start at Mamie or the Twins and Move to George or Mary in the afternoon. Try nightcrawlers, Berkeley Power Trout Worms in red or pink with a couple split shot 2-3 ft. above a split shot and Berkeley Gulp in Chunky Cheese or Rainbow Candy. For lures, try 1/4 oz. Thomas Buoyant in gold/red or Rainbow Trout, 1/6 Oz. Panther/Martin In black/red dots, Jake's Spin-a-Lure in gold and CD-3 Rapala in Brook Trout or Rainbow Trout. Trollers getting down 4-7 colors with Flatfish, Kastmasters and Tasmanian Devils are pulling up good numbers of big rainbow trout. For the first and last hour of the day, try a fly and bubble set up. Good reports coming out of Twin Lakes and Mary this week.

Salmon: Has been slower than expected this year, but the Kings are BIG. Catching 1-4 salmon per day. All salmon being caught are 30 lbs., plus many over 40 pounds. Looks like we are expecting a late run again this year. A good rain or two will bring more salmon upriver for November.

Rainbow: Fly fishing is fair to good. Drifting from Redding to Anderson, late afternoons, evenings best bet. Nice size trout, average day's catch 8-18 trout. Flies that are working well Fox's Poopahs, Prince Nymphs and Pheasant Tails.

SACRAMENTO RIVER, CALIF: Dave Jacobs (Professional Guide Service) (800-355-3113): Salmon fishing from Balls Ferry downstream to near Chico has continued to be slow for most anglers with some guides reporting 1-3 fish per day. Back bouncing sardine wrapped Kwikfish lures in the morning and switching over to roe and a Quickie puff ball in the mid morning and afternoon have been the best bets . Salmon have been averaging 18-26 lbs with larger fish weighing in at 30 -40 lbs.

LAKE TAHOE - South Shore: Gene St. Denis: I was on my annual backpack trip in the high country near Bishop, last week, and we had to abort our trip due to 2-3 feet of snow.

TOPAZ LAKE: Chuck and Linda Fields at the Topaz Lake Marina (775-266-3550): The 2007 fishing season will close on Sept. 30.

TWIN LAKES, CALIF: Upper Twin Lake: Annett's Mono Village (760-932-7071): A 6.5 pound rainbow on a trolled floating nightcrawler, a 5-pound, 11-ounce rainbow on a red Matuka fly and a 4-pound, 10-ounce rainbow on a combination of Power Bait and a nightcrawler from shore. Yellow Power Bait as well as nightcrawlers bringing in nice stringers from shore.

WILDHORSE RESERVOIR, NEV: Dennis Dunn, Mark, Rocket and Scott at the Wild Horse Resort (775) 758-6472: It's cool up here. We had snow yesterday (Sunday) and frost on the windows this morning. Fishing has been good for perch, bass and catfish, Trout are hitting but few and far between.
