Throughout Carson High School are posters, advising new and returning students alike what not to show up to school wearing.

Yet on the first day of school, teachers and administrators are on the lookout for students trying to push the limit. Administrators said there were seven or eight violations of the dress code on Monday, including students wearing chains and inappropriate shirts.

The CHS dress code says, "No undergarments showing, no midriff, no halter tops or backless, strapless garments. No head coverings or sunglasses are permitted. The purpose of this dress code is to promote an atmosphere of learning. Therefore, clothing must be modest. Students inappropriately dressed will receive a dress code violation contract for the first offense. Future violations will be dealt with by the administration in a progressive disciplinary manner."
